This is something that surely needs to be addressed. People will try to worry their opponent by sending 4 or 5 units on one flank and attack with 20 on another, lets be honest, this is way too obvious and anyone even slightly witty will not fall for this; if however you make the groups 10 / 15 , you got a good chance of getting a successful attack off; at BOTH points where you’re attacking. So the group doesn't even count as distraction but also to damage him, which is even better right?
这是一定要说明的。如果你试图只用4-5个单位佯攻敌人一翼来吸引敌人的注意力,而用20个单位攻击另一翼,说实话,这种做法太明显了,任何有一点常识的人都不会上当的。但是如果你把兵力分成10/15的话,你将更有可能在两点成功的实施进攻行动。你的佯攻部队(不仅是传统意义的佯攻)也可以消灭敌人,这不是更好么?
Now how would I do that?

Simple; the flexibility of the unit matters a lot. Respond quick to his actions and remove the forces from where he’s coming if he’s moving with a stronger force, you can go head-on if you think you got a chance or you really want a longer opening for your other force.
简单来说,你部队的灵活性是关键。对敌人的行动作出快速反应,让你的部队从敌人优势兵力的来路上撤走,当然如果你认为有机会或者你想为实攻部队拖延更长的时间,你也可以迎头而上。
Lets assume you want to save your "bait" units. Try to do as much damage as possible and then Reverse move back to another point on the map , map control helps in this case ( eg Tournament Arena; having both spikes or at least the bunkers there so you know you’re not running in enemy forces) . While you’re doing the first attack and see his first reaction to it , send in group 2 and attack on the other side; now if he didn’t split up himself, he’s going to either have to chase group 1 and let group 2 be and fend it off with new units (slow) , or send in all to group 2 . Most likely people tend to take everything back (especially those lazy “Select all “ / “Attack move” people (I used to be one of them, I can tell )) to group 2; come back in with group 1 again and remove or fight with group 2.

Basically this is the concept of Flanking more than Distracting, but it also applies with it, and hence theres no use to a new topic especially for flanking.
基本来说,相比扰乱敌人,这其实是两翼进攻的概念,但是它也是扰乱敌人的应用,因此,我们不会有特别的文章来专门讲述两翼进攻了。
Before engaging in a large battle, try to thin out your opponents army so that you have not only micro control, but now have firepower control.
在进入大规模战斗前,试着去削弱你的敌人,这样你不仅需要微操,还需要火力控制。
To do so, first send a few "bait" units around the flank. Cause some damage and force him to chase you. (Many people you will play simply use "Q" and attack move so you are given a major upper hand if this is the case) You want to keep the bait units alive and on the move while you attack his harvesters/army.

For a successful Flame tank rush, you will have the most luck if you are making a push on the front lines as well as pursuing with the Flame Tanks.

Pitbulls + Predators/Apc/Rocket infantry/Snipers – Pitbulls kill of things while the other army keeps him busy (Flanking example)

Scorpions + Flame tanks (Scorpions attract enemy fire; Flame Tanks blow up the base from the other side)
