Welcome to Part 2 of our first Featured Map: Tournament Arena - Nod! In Part 1, GDI was thoroughly examined and the map was laid out, but now it's time for the Brotherhood. Currently in 1.09 as the Brotherhood of Nod, the upper-hand is easy to acheive with multiple attack angles and plenty of space for flanking and sneak attacks. Early game harassment, whether it be with Attack Bikes or Shadow Teams, is highly encouraged on this map since both players have to expand to their blue tiberium fields. Support powers also play a major role in this map, especially the Catalyst Missile and the Tiberium Vapor Bomb, which can castrate the enemy's economic and technological progress.

Remember this guide is not the end all answer to winning 100% of the time on this map, but with practice it will help your overall strategy. Adapting these tips to your own play style is extremely beneficial and at some times necessary. Each of the three match-ups will be covered in the same way as Part 1 with a select few contingencies, and special focus areas.

Nod vs. GDI

Recently there have been some pro replays and their build order plain was lacking, hence they lost horribly in ladder season. Avatar spam is the main idea of Nod in 1.09, however I'll add other successful build orders.

Now what’s the idea? Send the first two Shadow Teams from the support power and fly them into the enemy’s expansion and destroy it. Then send the third straight to where you assume his Barracks will be to kill any Engineers or follow an APC that is going to load up an Engineer at bunker. Follow this up from the War Factory with two Scorpions, then two Harvesters. Why the 2 Scorpions? To stop any Engineer Rushes that might have come through, or to hunt Pitbulls that are searching for your Shadow Teams so you can do more damage with them.

Another support power to keep in mind is the Mine Drop which is one of the few reasons to get an Air Tower before teching up. This is helpful if you get into a battle with Predators, making up for the difference in power of Scorpions and Predators.

The Temple of Nod and other ways to stop Shockwave Artillery

Very few people build the Temple of Nod, but plenty of people get beaten by Shockwave Artillery. For two Avatars less you can build a Temple of Nod which the Master Computer Countermeasures power cancel any EMP done on your forces or structures. Another option to stop Shockwave Artillery is to split your Avatars in two groups so only some get EMPed.

What should I build out of the buildings?

• Hand of Nod: A bit of infantry always, just do not overdo it, unless you're going for a Scorpion Spam build order. Also, when you're facing a Pred-spammer, get some Fanatics if he attacks first. He will likely not bring APCs allowing to you scare your enemy off.

• War Factory: Scorpions, up to the point when you tech up, then switch to Avatars.

  It is possible to build some Flame or Stealth Tanks and try to sneak them into you enemy’s base, which can make for a good distraction.

• Air Tower: Enough Venoms to keep his infantry at bay. Vertigos are optional, but can be useful in destroying and weakening base defenses.

What should I do with my army?

Always flank with small groups of Scorpion Tanks. For example, send five north. Then if you see your enemy going north, retreat them, and send five south. Another options is to go head on with some infantry and Scorpions, but it is rare to come out ahead against a primarily Predator Tank army.

When you are teched up, just amass Avatars and go straight at your opponent. This is unstoppable if you have a Temple of Nod to stop EMP effects. Bring some Venoms to deal with Commandos or infantry or upgrade a couple Avatars with Flame Tanks.

My opponent is spamming a lot of infantry, what should I do?

Nod has some of the best anti-infantry units and support powers in the game. Black Hands and Flame Tanks deal great amounts of damage to infantry and also demolish structures. Venoms and Raider Buggies are also great choices. Scorpion Tanks with the Dozer Blade upgrade can also squish even heavy infantry. Cloaking Field, Catalyst Missile and the Tiberium Vapor Bomb are great support powers and can clear out large numbers quickly; even a Mine Drop can be used in a pinch.

The Tiberium Spikes

Get a hold of them always. Use a Black Hand to clear out garrisons, and take it for yourself. Place a Saboteur bomb on it in case your enemy tries to recapture the spike.

Use them early and often. Do not use a Catalyst Missile though if there is just one Refinery or a couple of Harvesters on a Tiberium Field. The Vapor Bomb should be used to get Tech Centers down. Also make use of Seed Tiberium as soon as possible, it helps prolong your late game income.
